Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher will miss some time after breaking two of his fingers during Sunday’s game against the New York Islanders.

Canadiens winger Brendan Gallagher will miss some time after breaking two of his fingers during Sunday’s game against the New York Islanders, Montreal announced

Early images of the injury were not pretty after Gallagher blocked a point shot from Isles’ defenseman Johnny Boychuk. Gallagher was in considerable pain going to the bench and locker room, which you can see in the video below.

Gallagher will undergo surgery on Monday on his two fractured fingers and will be out indefinitely. The loss is a blow to Montreal. In 22 games this year the right-winger has nine goals and 19 points. 

The Canadiens won the game 4–2.
