On New Year’s Eve the CWHL’s Montreal Canadiennes and the NWHL’s Boston Pride will face off at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. The game will mark the first meeting between the two largest professional women’s hockey leagues. The CWHL is in it’s ninth season, while the NWHL is in it’s first.

While both rosters feature a number of Olympians and national team members, several from the U.S. Olympic squad will be missing due to team commitments.

Despite missing players like Knight, the game will be a landmark matchup in women's hockey history.
