Monday December 14th, 2015

It appears as if Brooks Orpik is going to be out longer than expected.

According to a report from NBCSN’s Pierre McGuire, the Washington Capitals defenseman will be out with a lower-body injury for “a long time.”

Orpik has missed the last 14 games for the Caps, and has 1-2-3 totals in 14 games on the season. He was averaging 19:14 in ice time per game, the fourth highest total among Washington's defensemen.

Despite missing the veteran blueliner, the Caps are the top team in the Metropolitan Division, trailing Montreal for the Eastern Conference lead by one point. In their last 10 games, the Caps are 8-1-1.
