Maple Leafs stars Lupul. van Riemsdyk to miss rest of season

TORONTO (AP) The Maple Leafs will be without forwards James van Riemsdyk and Joffrey Lupul for the rest of the season, the team confirmed Thursday.

The 26-year-old van Riemsdyk broke his left foot on Jan. 9 in San Jose and was expected to miss six to eight weeks. His recovery has taken longer than expected, however, and he remains on crutches with a walking boot.

Lupul, meanwhile, continues to be hampered by various injuries. The latest will require the 32-year-old to have sports hernia surgery. He last played on Feb. 6 before sitting with a ''middle-body injury'' as the team described it.
