Love reportedly told the Timberwolves that he does not intend to re-sign there when he becomes a free agent next summer. His decision has forced the Wolves to consider several trade options, though Golden State was not considered a viable destination unless Thompson was included in the deal.
Last season, Love averaged career highs in points (26.1) and assists (4.4), along with hauling in 12.5 rebounds. He made his third All-Star team, and was named to the All-NBA second team for the second time. Thompson averaged a career-high 18.4 points and shot 41.7 percent from three-point range, another career best. The 31-year-old Lee averaged 18.2 points and 9.3 rebounds, though injuries limited him to 69 games.
