The Dontrelle Willis era in Philadelphia didn't last long -- after signing the 30-year-old hurler three months ago, the Phillies cut him loose today, the team announced.

The Phillies signed Willis on Dec. 13 to a one-year deal worth $1 million plus performance bonuses. He made three appearances out of the Phils' bullpen this spring, and they didn't go well -- the hard-throwing lefty allowed five earned runs on five hits in 2.2 innings of work.
