Russia's Zubkov has lead after 2 runs of 2-man

KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) Alexander Zubkov has a commanding lead at the halfway point of men's Olympic two-man bobsled.

Along with brakeman Alexey Voevoda, Zubkov drove through a light fog and set a track record on his first run and completed two trips down the Sanki Sliding Center course in 1 minute, 52.82 seconds.

He leads Switzerland's Beat Hefti by 0.32 seconds and has a 0.36-second advantage over Steven Holcomb of Park City, Utah.

Zubkov led Holcomb by just 0.09 seconds after his first run, but opened some distance over the field with a crisp, clean second run. As he crossed the finish line, Zubkov pumped his left fist into the frosty air, knowing he has a little margin for error in Monday's final heats.

Russia has not won gold in two-man since 1988.
