Russia to put goalie Semyon Varlamov back in net

SOCHI, Russia (AP) Russia plans to give goaltender Semyon Varlamov another chance to play.

The team announced Varlamov will start Sunday against Slovakia, the final preliminary-round game for both teams.

Sergei Bobrovsky was in net for the Russians in a 3-2 shootout loss Saturday to the U.S.

Varlamov played in Russia's Sochi Games opener, a 5-2 victory over Slovenia. After that game, a reporter told Russian coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov it would be ''a death sentence'' to play Varlamov against the Americans.
