Poland, Dutch qualify for final women's pursuit

SOCHI, Russia (AP) The Netherlands and Poland have qualified for the women's pursuit final, assuring Dutch speedskater Ireen Wust that she will leave the Sochi Games with five medals.

The Dutch team of Wust, Jorien ter Mors and Marrit Leenstra set an Olympic record of 2 minutes 58.43 seconds on Saturday as it overwhelmed the Japanese team in the six-lap race around the Adler Arena. Poland edged host nation Russia in the other semifinal.

Wust already has won gold in the 3,000 meters. She followed that by winning silver in the 1,000, 1,500 and 5,000. Since the Netherlands made the final, Wust is assured of at least another silver medal.

Russia will face Japan in the bronze-medal race.
