Robin Van Persie, Nigel De Jong start for Netherlands against Argentina

Wednesday July 9th, 2014

Forward Robin Van Persie and midfielder Nigel De Jong will start for the Netherlands in its World Cup semifinal against Argentina Wednesday.

Van Persie had been battling a stomach illness, and his status was in doubt for the match. De Jong injured his groin in the Netherlands' win over Mexico, and an MRI revealed torn muscle and was expected to sideline de Jong for two to four weeks.

Van Persie, Netherlands' captain, has scored three goals in the World Cup.

The winner of the semifinal match between Argentina and Netherlands will face Germany in Sunday's World Cup Final.
