Tottenham Hotspur signs keeper Hugo Lloris to new five-year contract

Thursday July 10th, 2014

Tottenham Hotspur has signed keeper Hugo Lloris to a new five-year contract, the club announced on Thursday.

Lloris joined Tottenham in 2012 and was rumored to be a target of Ligue 1's Paris Saint-Germain. Lloris said he is confident in the club's future:

“I spoke with the chairman [Daniel Levy] and I know the club is as ambitious as ever,” said Lloris. “It’s very important to feel at home at a club and for my family to feel well. I enjoy a great relationship with the club and the fans."

As captain of the French national team, Lloris helped lead the team to the quarterfinals of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil before it eventually fell to Germany.

Tottenham finished last season in sixth place in the Premier League. The team will begin a tour of North America later this month before opening its Premier League schedule in mid-August.
