Ángel Correa will be out for the next six months after undergoing surgery on a tumor found in his heart, Ed Makyon of the Mirror reports.
The tumor was discovered at the end of May during Correa's routine physical before his transfer from San Lorenzo to Atlético Madrid.
An Atlético statement released prior to the surgery, via Sky Sports:
"Angel Correa will undergo microsurgery in the coming days to resolve a heart condition that was detected during the medical that he took in Madrid on May 28.
"Those doctors predict a speedy recovery without any complications."
The surgery took place in New York last month, and the deal is still expected to go through. SBNation notes that Correa reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with Atlético.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Atlético and San Lorenzo have put the deal on hold to ensure Correa fully recovers from surgery.
