Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has injured his hamstring and is expected to be out for about four weeks, the team announced Wednesday. The 19-year-old signed with United in June after 67 appearances with Southampton.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has injured his hamstring and is expected to be out for about four weeks, the team announced Wednesday

The 19-year-old signed with United in June after 67 appearances with Southampton. He was a member of England's 2014 World Cup team and appeared in one game in Brazil.

Shaw sat out of a friendly against Valencia on Tuesday due to the hamstring issue. 

The team also confirmed that Shaw will wear No. 3 upon his return to the field. 

United begins Premier League play on Saturday against Swansea City.
