The Vancouver Whitecaps traded midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker to Chivas USA for midfielder Mauro Rosales, the team announced Thursday.

Reo-Coker, 30, played the last two seasons with the Whitecaps. He had one goal and six assists during his time in Vancouver. Prior to joining MLS, Reo-Coker played for several Premier League teams.

The 33-year-old Rosales joined Chivas USA before this season. He led Chivas this season with eight assists, and he has the second-most assists in MLS since 2011.

The two teams played to a scoreless draw last week. Reo-Coker did not play, and Rosales played the second half for Chivas.

Vancouver, 7-4-12 on the season, currently holds the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Whitecaps are two points ahead of the Portland Timbers.

Chivas USA is in last place in the West at 6-11-6.
