D.C. United midfielder Chris Rolfe will be out six weeks after fracturing his left forearm, the team announced Wednesday.

He was injured during training on Wednesday and had surgery the same day. The six-week timeframe would put Rolfe back before United's final two regular season games.

The 31-year-old has started 20 games and appeared in 21 since he was acquired from the Chicago Fire on April 2, recording six goals and six assists. Rolfe began his MLS career with Chicago in 2005 and has also made 10 appearances for the U.S. national team.

United entered Thursday in first place in the Eastern Conference with 46 points.
