Argentine club San Lorenzo will name its new stadium after Pope Francis.
Argentine club San Lorenzo will name its new stadium in Buenos Aires after Pope Francis, the club announced Wednesday.
The new stadium will be built on land seized from the club during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship, according to the Associated Press.
Pope Francis, who is from Argentina, is one of club’s biggest fans.
San Lorenzo has won a local title as well as the South American Copa Libertadores club competition, the first in the club's 106-year history, since he became pope in March 2013.
