The club finished one point behind Milan, in third place. Ajax is currently 3-0-2 in their Eredivisie games. Their nine points put them in fifth place. On Saturday, Ajax beat Heracles Almelo 2-1.

Paris Saint-Germain made it to the quarterfinals of last year's Champions League. The club lost to Chelsea on away goals. PSG is currently 2-3-0 in their Ligue 1 matches. They are in fifth place with nine points. On Saturday, PSG drew Stade Rennais 1-1.

The two teams have been drawn into Group F, along with Barcelona and APOEL Nicosia.
