Barcelona vs. APOEL Nicosia

In the past seven years, Barcelona has made it to the semifinal stage of the Champions League tournament six times. In that period, they have won the tournament twice. Barcelona has not lost their opening Champions League game since 1997-98. In Primera Division play, Barcelona has won their first three matches. They have not yet conceded a goal.​

This is only APOEL's third appearance in the group stages of the Champions League. APOEL are currently 2-0 in the Cyprus League and are in second place, with six points. APOEL goalie's, Urko Pardo, played for Barcelona for eight years on the club's youth team.

The two teams have been drawn into Group F, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax.
