GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) — Eric Choupo-Moting converted a disputed penalty in injury time to give Schalke a dramatic 4-3 victory over 10-man Sporting in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Adrien Silva had scored two late goals to haul Sporting from two goals down to 3-3, before being penalized for handling the ball, although it bounced off his chest.
Nani had put Sporting ahead before defender Mauricio was sent off in the 33rd minute for his second booking and Chinedu Obasi scored from the ensuing free kick. Obasi then set up Klaas-Jan Hujntelaar to score and Benedikt Hoewedes added Schalke's third on the hour.
But Silva scored with a penalty and then a header to level the match.
Schalke's penalty in the second minute of added time gave it its first win in Group G.
