Riot police had to clear the section that was the source of the flares before the game could be resumed.

Italy and Croatia entered Sunday tied for first place in Group H with three wins apiece.

In October, fans lit fireworks and flares and threw them on the field during a game between Arsenal and Galatasaray, also causing a temporary stoppage. Galatasaray was fined $64,00 over the incident because its supporters threw the flares.
