Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will join the Los Angeles Galaxy, according to a report from ESPN FC's Jeffrey Carlisle.
Gerrard confirmed earlier Saturday that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the Premier League season to play in the United States, but did not specify which team he would sign for.
Gerrard will sign an 18-month contract that will pay him $6 million annually, according to the report. The contract would have to be approved by the MLS board of governors, because the league would pay a portion of Gerrard's salary.
Gerrard, 34, will end his 17-year Liverpool career in May. He has made nearly 700 appearances and scored 180 goals for the Reds.
The Galaxy have a hole to fill in their midfield after the retirement of American soccer icon Landon Donovan. Signing with the Galaxy would reunite Gerrard with former Liverpool teammate Robbie Keane.
