Heath Pearce signs short-term deal with Sweden's IFK Goteborg

American defender Heath Pearce has signed a five-month contract with Sweden's IFK Goteborg.

The 30-year-old made 23 league appearances and 29 overall for Major League Soccer's Montreal Impact last season, then was selected by Orlando in the expansion draft.

He also has played for Denmark's Nordsjaelland (2005-07), Germany's Hansa Rostock (2007-09), and Dallas (2009-10), Chivas USA (2011-12) and the New York Red Bulls (2012-13) in MLS.

Pearce made 35 appearances for the U.S. national team from 2005-12 and was on the roster for the Copa America in 2007 and the Confederations Cup and CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2009.

His agreement was announced Thursday.
