FC Dallas signs Fabian Castillo to new five-year deal
FC Dallas has signed star midfielder Fabian Castillo to a new five-year deal, the club announced on Tuesday. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
In a statement announcing the new contract for the 22-year-old, club technical director Fernando Clavijo noted the excitement in being able to get the deal done.
“We’re very excited to have secured the services of Fabian Castillo for the future,” Clavijo said. “He is the future of this franchise. He is a player we have been able to help grow. We also believe he has yet to achieve his full potential. FC Dallas has a more mature and complete player in Fabian today than we did a few years ago, but each year he remains with FC Dallas, the better he will become.”
Castillo scored 10 goals last season, including four game winners. In four seasons with the club, Castillo has recorded 20 goals for FC Dallas, placing him No. 12 all-time on the team's list.
During the 2014 campaign, Castillo was named to the MLS Team of the Week four times, and he was anointed the club MVP after the season was over.
Dallas finished fourth in the Western Conference last season with a 16-12-6 record. The club lost to the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference semifinals.
