Major League Soccer has gone from startup to mainstream since the league’s first match in 1996. In the past two decades, MLS has doubled from 10 teams to 20 (with more on the way). MLS stars now hail from all over the world, and as the league’s talent pool has grown, so has the profile of U.S. soccer on the international stage.
On March 6, MLS will kick off its 20th season when the Chicago Fire meet the L.A. Galaxy at 10 p.m. ET on Unimas. To get yourself energized, check out this video and see how the league has evolved from the first goal scored back in 1996 to the stars and crowds that make the league thrive today.
