Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain will represent Argentina for friendlies against El Salvador and Ecuador in the United States later in March.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina coach Gerardo Martino has named Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain in a squad to face El Salvador and Ecuador in international friendlies later this month in the United States.

Martino announced the 22-player squad on Tuesday, and included a first-time call up for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.

Forward Carlos Tevez was also called up. Martino recalled Tevez late last year after he had been omitted for three years under former coach Alejandro Sabella.

Defender Martin Demichelis of Manchester City, a starter for Argentina in last year's World Cup, was left out of the squad.

Martino is likely to add several Argentina-based players next week.

Argentina faces El Salvador on March 28 in Washington, and then plays Ecuador March 31 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Here is the squad in full:

GOALKEEPERS: Nahuel Guzman (Tigres), Sergio Romero (Sampdoria), Geronimo Rulli (Real Sociedad).

DEFENDERS: Ezequiel Garay (Zenit), Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City), Marcos Rojo (Manchester United), Facundo Roncaglia (Genoa), Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal), Lucas Orban (Valencia), Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia).

MIDFIELDERS: Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain), Angel Di Maria (Manchester United), Lucas Biglia (Lazio), Roberto Pereyra (Juventus), Ever Banega (Sevilla), Enzo Perez (Valencia), Javier Mascherano (Barcelona).

FORWARDS: Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint-Germain), Sergio Aguero (Manchester City), Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli), Carlos Tevez (Juventus), Lionel Messi (Barcelona).
