Wednesday April 15th, 2015

Borussia Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp will leave the team at the end of the Bundesliga season, he announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

Klopp’s contract with Borussia Dortmund does not end until 2018, but has asked out of his contract. German paper Bild reports that Thomas Tuchel is a strong candidate to replace Klopp this summer.

Klopp’s representatives say that he has received several inquiries about coaching positions since reports of his departure surfaced.

Klopp, 47, took over Dortmund in 2008 and has led the club to two Bundesliga titles, one German Cup and the Champions League final during the 2012-13 season.

Dortmund was defeated by Juventus in the round of 16 in the Champions League this season and is currently 10th in the Bundesliga league, 37 points behind leaders Bayern Munich and seven points clear of the automatic relegation zone.
