LEICESTER, England (AP) — Leicester won its sixth English Premier League game in seven matches on Saturday, beating fading Southampton 2-0 to continue its march toward survival.
Riyad Mahrez enhanced his growing reputation by scoring both goals at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes thoroughly deserved their 2-0 success but Southampton disappointed with a fourth straight away loss which looks to have finally ended the Saints' hopes of catching Liverpool in fifth spot.
A month ago Leicester appeared set for a return to the second-tier League Championship after an eight-game winless run which included six defeats.
Now Nigel Pearson's side sits three places and three points above the relegation zone.
