Kaka's goal propels Orlando City over D.C. United to extend unbeaten streak
ORLANDO, Florida (AP) — Brazil international Kaka scored off his own penalty rebound in the 30th minute as Orlando City SC topped the Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United 1-0 in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
United goalkeeper Bill Hamid made a diving save when Kaka went low and left with his penalty. But Hamid blocked it back squarely and was out of position as Kaka drove home the header for his seventh goal of the season.
Pedro Ribeiro earned the penalty when United defender Taylor Kemp made a careless challenge near the edge of the box.
Orlando City moved into third place in the Eastern Conference and stretched their unbeaten streak to five games. United retained a four-point lead atop the conference despite losing their second in a row.
Hydration breaks were implemented for the first time in MLS history. The delays are mandated for the 30th and 75th minutes when the temperature reaches 89.6 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) or higher.
