CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Joel McAnuff scored the only goal of the second half in the 48th minute and Jamaica tied Costa Rica 2-2 on Wednesday night in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
McAnuff used a nice individual effort that started near midfield to toe-punch in the tying goal in the opening match of Group B.
Jamaica's Garath McCleary started the scoring in the 13th minute with a deflected shot off a long throw-in.
Jamaica lost all three of its Copa America matches last month and had players boycott Monday's training session due to pay issues.

Costa Rica's Roy Miller tied it at 1 with a header off a clever set piece in the 33rd minute. David Ramirez flicked in a goal from a difficult angle about four minutes later as Jamaica's goal-line clearance attempt was too late.
Costa Rica is looking to build on its quarterfinal appearance in last summer's World Cup.
