Edin Dzeko leaves Manchester City for Roma on season-long loan

ROME (AP) — Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has joined Roma on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

The Bosnia international scored 72 goals in 189 appearances for City since joining from Wolfsburg in January 2011 but he dropped down the striking pecking order under manager Manuel Pellegrini.

City says the 29-year-old Dzeko will move permanently to Roma if "certain conditions are met" at the end of the season but did not specify what they were.

Dzeko has won the Premier League twice.

Roma plays in the first match of the Serie A season, opening on the road at Hellas Verona on Aug. 22.

Dzeko did not play in Manchester City's season-opening 3-0 win over West Brom.
