Watch Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech make a point-blank save to deny Liverpool's Christian Benteke.
Prior to the start of the Premier League season, John Terry said his former Chelsea teammate, Petr Cech, would be worth 12-to-15 points for Arsenal this season. Saves like the ones he made Monday provide the evidence to back that statement up.
Cech made an incredible point-blank save to deny Liverpool forward Christian Benteke and then went full extension to get his fingertip to parry a Philippe Coutinho blast off the post in the latter stages of a game that surprisingly ended scoreless at the Emirates. Liverpool had hit the post before through Coutinho, and both teams had goals controversially waved off for offside prior to Cech's saves.
On the first effort, Roberto Firmino set up Benteke with a perfect cross to the far post, and the Belgian forward had a gaping goal staring him in the face. Or so he thought. Cech sprawled to his left and managed to get his hand on Benteke's shot, tipping it around the post.
On the second, Cech again went to his left, making just enough of an impact on the ball to prevent Coutinho from finding the back of the net.
