Anticipated Man City–Man United first matchup ends in scoreless draw

The highly anticipated first matchup of the season between Manchester United and Manchester City turned into a defensive battle, ending in a 0–0 tie that moved Man City into a tie for the points lead in the Premier League standings with Arsenal.

Arsenal currently holds the top spot in goal differential. 

Man U controlled possession for 59% of the match and had the best chance on goal, a Anthony Martial chip that hit the top of the bar in the 84th minute.

Both teams could only manage six total shots with one shot on goal.
