Barcelona signs player, cuts him hours later after finding vulgar tweets

Monday December 28th, 2015

Just hours after signing him, FC Barcelona announced on Monday that they have terminated the contract of Sergi Guardiola due to a series of offensive tweets he sent in 2013.

In a statement, the club said Guardiola “had published offensive tweets about the club and Catalonia.”

Below, via Twitter user Foro_MDM, are the tweets he sent, before he made his account private. They’ve been edited for language.

The 24-year-old recently left Alcorcon, and was offered a contract from Barcelona B, which he accepted.

The deal was announced on the team’s website, and posted on Twitter:

The team also signed Xemi and Moises Delgado on Monday.
