The U.S. attorney general happily confirmed her superhero identity to Stephen Colbert Thursday night.
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch is embracing her role as the key figure that brought many of FIFA's corrupt executives to their knees.
Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Thursday night, Lynch happily confirmed the title that Marvel Comics and ESPNW anointed upon her in the winter.
"You are America's top crime fighter," Colbert says, beginning their interview. "Are you the Batman?"
Without hesitation, Lynch responded. "I'm not the Batman. I am the FIFA slayer."
The exchange takes place at the beginning of their interview:
Lynch has been at the forefront of the FIFA investigation, with the U.S. Department of Justice and Swiss authorities implicating, indicting and arresting dozens of allegedly corrupt officials and uncovering hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes paid out and agreed upon over decades. Based on Lynch's previous comments, more is in the offing, too.
