The Sporting KC midfielder didn't let his national team exile stop him from making a hilarious jersey choice.
Benny Feilhaber has come to terms with the fact that Jurgen Klinsmann won't be calling him into the U.S. men's national team, but didn't stop him from poking some fun for Sporting Kansas City's "Jersey Friday."
Feilhaber and teammate Matt Besler posted team photos of Sporting KC players in different uniforms, with most–the D'Angelo Russell nod aside–choosing something more tame and traditional. Feilhaber, meanwhile, deftly chose to wear a Klinsmann Germany national team uniform. His national-team exile dates back to January camp in 2014. Despite being a MLS MVP finalist last season, he remains on the outside of Klinsmann's roster picture.
“I’ve accepted the fact that Jurgen’s not going to call me,” Feilhaber said at MLS Media Day before this season. “If I play the year that I played this last year, and I’m not getting a call, then I’m not going to get an opportunity under Jurgen.”
If you can't win him over, join him?
