Leicester fan cashed out on Premier League title bet after one game
A Leicester City fan put 50 pence on the team to take the Premier League title before the season and then cashed it in at a loss after the team won their opening game against Sunderland, depriving himself of a shot at what could be a £2,500 ($3653 USD) payday.
The Daily Mirror reports the gambler placed the bet with Ladbrokes only to cash it in at a loss after the season’s first game, collecting 45 pence from the British bookkeeper.
Now the sports betting company is trying to get a hold of the man so they can offer him tickets to a game and a free bet on Leicester City to win next year’s title to make up for his unfortunate decision.
The Foxes can clinch the Premier league title with a win on Sunday against Manchester United, or the following Saturday over Everton. A Tottenham loss to Chelsea would also ensure a Leicester championship.
