Spain's Dani Carvajal to miss Euro 2016 with hamstring injury
Spain will be without Dani Carvajal at Euro 2016 after the Real Madrid right back suffered a hamstring injury in the Champions League Final, the team announced.
The injury came with just six minutes remaining in the second half of Real Madrid's win over Atletico Madrid.
“Daniel Carvajal has been diagnosed with a grade-two injury to the right iliopsoas,” the team said in a statement. “His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Carvajal has made four caps for Spain since August 2014.
Spain plans to use Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin in his absence. Bellerin made his debut for Spain's senior squad on Sunday in a 3–1 win over Bosnia.
Manager Vicente del Bosque said the team was also considering Villarreal defender Mario Gaspar.
Spain has won the last two European Championships.
