Dzyuba headlines Russia's Euro 2016 roster; Dzagoev out hurt

Tuesday May 31st, 2016

Artem Dzyuba and Aleksandr Kokorin headline Russia's Euro 2016 roster, but CSKA Moscow star Alan Dzagoev will miss the tournament with a broken foot.

Dzagoev, 25, would have been one of Russia's stars at the competition, and his absence is a major void for manager Leonid Slutsky, who continues to oversee the 2018 World Cup hosts after stepping in for Fabio Capello. Slutsky is also without the injured Yuri Zhirkov, and he omitted Russia's top all-time scorer Alexander Kerzhakov as well.

As for who is making the trip to France, Dzyuba is coming off a 15-goal campaign for Zenit, and will lead the line against Group B foes England, Wales and Slovakia.

Here is Russia's squad in full:

GOALKEEPERS: Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moskva), Yuri Lodygin (Zenit), Guilherme (Lokomotiv Moskva)

DEFENDERS: Aleksei Berezutski (CSKA Moskva), Vasili Berezutski (CSKA Moskva), Sergei Ignashevich (CSKA Moskva), Dmitri Kombarov (Spartak Moskva), Roman Neustädter (Schalke), Georgi Schennikov (CSKA Moskva), Roman Shishkin (Lokomotiv Moskva), Igor Smolnikov (Zenit)

MIDFIELDERS: Igor Denisov (Zenit), Dmitri Torbinski (Krasnodar), Aleksandr Golovin (CSKA Moskva), Denis Glushakov (Spartak Moskva), Oleg Ivanov (Terek Grozny), Pavel Mamaev (Krasnodar), Aleksandr Samedov (Lokomotiv Moskva), Oleg Shatov (Zenit), Roman Shirokov (CSKA Moskva)

FORWARDS: Artem Dzyuba (Zenit), Aleksandr Kokorin (Zenit), Fedor Smolov (Krasnodar)
