FC Barcelona plans to extend the contract of Brazilian forward Neymar, the club announced Thursday.

First team technical secretary Robert Fernandez revealed the club’s plans for the player while discussing the future of the team’s lineup.

“Neymar will stay. He will reach an agreement with Barça and he will be here for a long time. The club will make it public when the extension is to be made,” Fernandez said.

Neymar joined Barcelona from Brazilian club Santos on a $74 million transfer in 2013. He scored 34 goals in all competitions with Barcelona this season.
