Uruguay blanks Jamaica in Copa Group C consolation match

Abel Hernandez and Mathias Corujo sandwiched a JeVaughn Watson own goal as Uruguay eased by Jamaica 3-0 in the Copa America finale for both teams..

After falling to Mexico and Venezuela, both sides looked to close their participation in the competition on a positive note in their otherwise meaningless match at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. Luis Suarez, who was livid after not being called upon to help Uruguay in its 1-0 loss to Venezuela (despite being on an apparent injured list that prevented him from being able to play), was not risked Monday.

Instead, Hernandez started up top and scored his 11th career goal in 27 caps, getting Uruguay on the board in the 21st minute. Watson's own goal and Corujo's finish padded the lead, as Jamaica goes home without having scored a goal for the second straight year at Copa America.

Mexico wound up winning Group C, while Venezuela took second.
