Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty kick for Portugal against Austria on Saturday that would have put his side ahead 1–0 in the 78th minute. Portugal instead had to settle for a scoreless draw.

Ronaldo, seeking to become the first player ever to score in four separate Euro tournaments, drove his spot-kick hard to the lower left corner but found the post, leaving the game tied 0–0 and Portuguese fans stunned.

Portugal drew with Iceland in its opening game of the tournament and could be in jeopardy entering its final match against Hungary.

Minutes later, Ronaldo found the back of the net on a header off a cross from the right side, but he was well offside.

Austrian fans taunted him earlier in the match with chants of “Messi.”
