Sunday August 28th, 2016

Las Palmas midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng honored the victims of the devastating earthquake in Italy after scoring a goal against Granada on Sunday.

Boateng knocked home a header in the 51st minute to give Las Palmas a 2–1 advantage at that point. The goal was his second in the two games he’s played with the La Liga side since signing with the club on Aug. 2.

After scoring the goal, Boateng, who has spent a portion of his career playing in Italy with AC Milan, held up a shirt with the words “Forza Italia” and the date August 27, 2016.

Nearly 300 people were killed in the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked central Italian cities, including Amatrice, Accumoli and Pescara del Tronto.

Funerals for the victims of the natural disaster began on Sunday.
