David Luiz is headed back to Chelsea, leaving PSG in a transfer deadline day stunner.
Paris Saint-Germain's David Luiz is set to head back to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea has agreed to terms on a three-year deal with its former player after securing a transfer for the Brazilian defender, the Premier League club announced.
The deal is reportedly worth £30 million with bonuses for Luiz, who left London for Paris just two years ago for £50 million, a record for a defender.
The 29-year-old completed a physical after the two clubs agreed to terms of the transfer. Chelsea had been eyeing another center back and was linked to Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and AC Milan's Alessio Romagnoli before turning its attention to Luiz, who won a Champions League title with the club.
'I'm delighted to return to Chelsea," Luiz said in a club statement. "We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success. 'I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again."
Chelsea also added left back Marcos Alonso ahead of the transfer deadline.
