The German Football League president suggested a four-team championship playoff for the Bundesliga title, but Bayern Munich isn't taking it seriously.
Former German Football League president Wolfgang Holzhäuser made news this week when he told Kicker it would be a great idea for the Bundesliga to have a four-team championship playoff at the end of the season to determine the league champion, USA-style. He argued that it would make the league more exciting instead of having Bayern Munich run away with the title.
After calling a Bayern Munich source about it, the reaction on the other end of the line was nothing but laughter. Bayern doesn’t take Holzhäuser—or his idea—seriously.
Bayern has won the last four Bundesliga titles and it has won its first three matches of the current season, outscoring opponents 11-1.
