MONACO (AP) French champion Monaco has signed Dutch defender Terence Kongolo on a five-year deal.

The 23-year-old Kongolo came through the academy at Feyenoord, where he won the Dutch title this season. Kongolo is a versatile defender, able to play center-back or left-back, and his signing could mean a possible replacement for Benjamin Mendy, who is generating attention from Manchester City.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. L'Equipe newspaper reported a transfer fee of about 13 million euros ($14.7 million).
