LAS VEGAS (AP)— Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been named NASCAR’s most popular driver for the 13th consecutive year.

He was presented the award on Friday night at season-ending awards ceremony at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Earnhardt joked during his acceptance speech that he thought he’d lost the award this year to Matt Kenseth, who received a huge ovation at Martinsville for intentionally wrecking Joey Logano.

Bill Elliott holds the record for most popular driver awards, winning the fan vote 16 times during a career that spanned 37 years.
