Williams reveals founder battle pneumonia

MEXICO CITY (AP) The Williams team says founder Frank Williams has been fighting pneumonia since the Italian Grand Prix and remains hospitalized.

Williams Chief Executive Mike O'Driscoll said Friday the illness has been tough on the 74-year-old but that he is making slow and steady progress. Williams' daughter, deputy team principal Claire Williams, is not at the Mexican Grand Prix and has missed several races to be with her father.

Frank Williams founded his racing team in 1966. It currently stands fifth in the team championship for the 2016 season, with Vatlerri Bottas and Felipe Massa eighth and 11th, respectively, in the driver's standings.
