Anyone involved in sports, whether as a fan or an active participant, will tell you that it is more than just a game. From little league to the pros, sports excite us, unite us, and even sustain us. They leave us cheering or crying with people we never expected to befriend, forged together by one mutual beloved team. Sports gave us the underdog, the walk-on, the hometown hero. They invented the tailgate, the watch party, the victory parade. Without sports, the world would be bland. Autumnal Sunday barbecues would be missing something. March would have no madness whatsoever. Quite simply, the world needs sports.
