There are a lot of jokes and memes about owning a Peloton Bike or Tread and being some form of cult. And they're not wrong. The Peloton experience is fun, interactive, and inspiring. That doesn't mean it's perfect, though.

Whether you have a Bike or Tread, there are plenty of accessories and gadgets you can add to the overall experience, including one gadget that helps you get ready or recover from those intense HIIT rides.

These products aren't strictly limited to Peloton riders, so if you're an avid runner and prefer a treadmill workout or like to slow things down with a yoga session, these products can still work for you.

Apple Watch Series 7 ($349, originally $399; amazon.com)

If you own Peloton's Bike+ and an Apple Watch, you can connect your watch to the bike using Apple's GymKit platform to feed your heart rate activity to the bike to calculate your Strive score. The Apple Watch Series 7 is Apple's newest wrist-worn gadget that boasts fast charging a slightly larger display. It comes in two sizes — 41mm and 45mm — and if you often take your cycling workouts outside you can pick up a cellular model, so you're always connected even when you leave your phone behind. The only downside with this approach is that you can only use your Apple Watch for cycling workouts.

Twelve South ActionBand for Apple Watch ($29.99; amazon.com)

If you have an Apple Watch or end up getting one to use with your Peloton Bike+, pick up this Twelve South ActionBand. To use it, remove your watchband and slide your Apple Watch into the band and slide it onto your wrist. The band looks like a sweatband but allows your watch to track your heart rate, and gives you access to the screen to monitor progress. If you want something that goes up higher on your arm, there's also an ActionSleeve, but we aren't sure what kind of impact wearing your Apple Watch on your arm has on tracking your heart rate.

Function HeartSync for Apple Watch ($49.95; function101.com)

If you didn’t splurge on a Bike+ or have either Tread model, you don’t have access to Apple’s GymKit integration that integrates your Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor, feeding your vitals into the tablet and your Peloton account. However, you can still use your Apple Watch as a heart rate tool when you also have the HeartSync for Apple Watch accessory. You connect the HeartSync device to your Apple Watch, and then it feeds your heart rate info over Ant+ to any compatible device, which in this case, happens to be a Peloton Bike or Tread.

Wahoo Fitness TICKR FIT Heart Rate Monitor Armband ($79.99; amazon.com)

If you want a heart rate monitor for more than just your rides you can pair any Ant+ compatible monitor to your Bike or Tread. The Wahoo Fitness Tickr Fit monitor is worn on your arm, has an estimated battery life of 30 hours and is recharged via a USB port. The benefit of going with a third-party brand like Wahoo over Peloton's own heart rate monitors is that you can use the Wahoo model with any app or equipment that supports Ant+ connectivity — and that list is very, very long.

Beats Fit Pro ($199.95; amazon.com)

Whether you're going on an early morning ride or getting out of the house for a guided run, having a pair of reliable Bluetooth earbuds makes sure you can hear the instructor and the playlist to stay motivated. The Apple-owned Beats brand recently launched the Beats Fit Pro, completely wireless earbuds that include active noise canceling, long battery life and an IPX4 rating for water/sweat resistance. I've been wearing these earbuds while working out since shortly after launch and have had zero issues with them falling out or any loss of connectivity.

Crostice Phone Holder ($14.99, originally $16.99; amazon.com)

Peloton's Bike doesn't have a spot to place your phone or earbuds case during a workout. The Crostice Phone Holder is an affordable platform that's designed to hold your phone, double as a place to keep your TV remote, or even hold a tablet for you while you go on an extra-long ride and want to binge Netflix shows. There's a non-slip mat included with each holder that should help keep your stuff in place as you get out of the saddle into third. The holder attaches to your bike's frame using a couple of bands that can be taken on and off when needed.

Nike SuperRep Cycling Shoes ($120; nike.com)

Not a fan of Peloton's cycling shoes? That's alright, you're not stuck with them. In fact, you can use any cycling shoe that works with the LOOK Delta cleat mount will work with your Bike or Bike+. Nike's SuperRep Cycle indoor cycling shoes for women and men offer a more colorful option. There are only two velcro straps to deal with while slipping them on and off (a big improvement over Peloton's Cycling Shoes).

Metal Shoe Hangers ($13.99; amazon.com)

After taking off your cycling shoes, where do you keep them? Instead of throwing them in the corner of the room or leaving them in front of your couch, this simple yet effective metal hook that hangs on the back of the Bike or Bike+, giving your shoes a place to air out post-workout. Each pack includes two hooks so you can hang two pairs of shoes.

TheraGun Elite ($349, originally $399; amazon.com)

Taking care of your body before and after a workout is arguably just as important as putting in the work. The TheraGun Elite will help you do just that by providing deep muscle treatments. The massager connects to a Bluetooth app so you can monitor your use, and the app will even suggest treatments based on how you use the TheraGun over time.
