The Bay Area's lone game, Super Bowl XIX, was played at Stanford Stadium, 30 miles away from where the eventual champion 49ers played. Joe Montana led San Francisco over Miami, 38-16. Years hosted: 1985.

Future Super Bowls are slated to be played in Arlington, Texas, (Cowboys Stadium) in 2011; Indianapolis in 2012 (Lucas Oil Stadium); and New Orleans in 2013 (Superdome). The NFL owners are voting for the 2014 game during their annual meeting on May 25. New York/New Jersey, Tampa and South Florida are the finalists.
